(a) Participating and Contributing in Traditional Festival
(i) Kahtein Festival
Kahtein refers to the ceremony during which yellow robes called matho thingan are offered to the sangha between the first waning day of Thadingyut (approximately October) and the full moon day of Tazaungmon (approximately November) in the Burmese calendar. During this period, certain rules of the Vinaya are relaxed for monks. Kahtein trees called badaytha bin on which offerings like money are hung, are also offered. ( Source: Wikipedia)
The Hotel @ Tharabar Gate is always used to celecbrate Kathina Festival by contribution of B.O.D, Management and staff. During the Kathina festival, staff decorate for Kathein tree, well dressed (traditional costume) and entertain the audience with traditional dances such as famous U Shwe Yoe and Daw Moe Dance.
(ii) Outstanding Monk appreciation ceremony
Buddhism in Myanmar is predominantly of the Theravada tradition, practiced by 89% of the country's population. It is the most religious Buddhist country in terms of the proportion of monks in the population and proportion of income spent on religion.
Monks , collectively known as the sangha, are venerated members of Burmese society. Among many ethnic groups in Myanmar, including the Bamar and Shan, Theravada Buddhism is practiced in conjunction with nat worship, which involves the placation of spirits who can intercede in worldly affairs.
With regard to the daily routines of Buddhists in Myanmar, there are two most popular practices: merit-making and vipassanā.
Hence The Hotel @ Tharabar Gate was apprciated the outstanding monks for thier successful study.
(b) Donation to Disaster Area
(i) Donation to Flood Victim and Tharabar Volunteering
Severe flooding in Myanmar began in July 2015 and continued into September, affecting 12 of the country's 14 states, resulting in about 103 deaths and affecting up to 1,000,000 people. Most of the casualties were reported from the Irrawaddy Delta. Torrential rains that began on 16 July destroyed farmland, roads, rail tracks, bridges and houses, leading the government to declare a state of emergency on 30 July in the four worst-hit regions in the west—Magway Division, Sagaing Division, Chin State and Rakhine State.(Source: Wikipedia)
In the rainy season of 2016, some state in Myanmar also suffer heavy rain and flood disaster. And 11 states are also affect the flood disaster and thousand of people are displaced.
Tharabar Volunteer team helped to move the flooded vicitims from flooded area to safer place and donated necessary things to the flood victim.
(ii) Donation Water to Dry Zone
During the summer season, some places near Bagan area has suffer the affect of drought because of dry zone. Lack of fresh water, villages are looking for outside help. Government and INGO always try to figure out and fix that kind of situation, there are also many villages which are still suffering that kind of disaster.
According to the difficult trasportation, the hotel @ Tharabar Gate contributed with water tank truck that was full of fresh water donate to the village which suffers from drought. Tharabar Voulenteer team donated fresh water to those villages every year.
(iii) Earthquake (Bagan Area - 24 August 2016)
A powerful earthquake struck in Bagan on 24 August 2016. The earthquake was registered a 6.8 on the Richter Scale and killed at least three people.
The quake damaged many ancient temples and pagodas roughly and most of these were built between the 10th and 14th centuries.
(iv) Donation for Restoration and Preservation
We donated for restoration and preservation of Bagan Monuments which is damaged by Earth Quake. It was organized by Venerable Dr. Ashin Nyanissara at Bagan Archaeological Musium, 5th May 2017.
(2) Education Sector
The Hotel @ Tharabar Gate actively participated in the development of education sector of Myanmar. The hotel @ Tharabar Gate especially focuses on the educational development of poor villages near Nyaung U and Bagan area.
Tharabar Education Network
And the Hotel @ Tharabar Gate founded Tharabar Education Network with contributing of intersted parties to support educational sectors by constructing basic infrastructure such us schools and libraries, donating recycle bins and stationaries.
